Neil Diamond’s Summer Plans
The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame inductee embarks on his greatest hits tour beginning in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at the Bank Atlantic Center June 1 and completes the journey in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Sept. 1.
While Diamond will be returning to many venues that have hosted him on previous tours, two venues are newbies when it comes to an evening with “Solitary Man.” The June 8 stop in Wantagh, N.Y., will be the first time Diamond plays the Nikon At Jones Beach Theater. Ditto for the DTE Energy Music Theater north of Detroit in Clarkston, Mich., when Diamond walks out on that venue’s stage July 3.
Other destinations include Tampa, Fla., at the St. Pete Times Forum June 3; Atlanta’s Philips Arena June 6; Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center June 18; Chicago’s United Center July 6; Edmonton, Alberta, at Rexall Place July 16; Seattle’s KeyArena July 23; San Jose at the HP Pavilion Aug. 7 and Phoenix at US Airways Center Aug. 29.
Diamond’s greatest hits won’t be limited to the stage. The Very Best Of Neil Diamond – The Original Studio Records drops Dec. 6 on Columbia / Legacy Recordings.
Meanwhile, Diamond keeps keeping busy. He’ll perform at the 85th Anniversary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and appear on the “Today Show,” NBC’s Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center and ”The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”
Shortly after the media blitz Diamond will receive yet another honor when he becomes a Kennedy Center Honoree Dec. 27.
Tickets for many U.S. dates go up Dec. 5 and all Canadian shows go on sale Dec. 12. Visit NeilDiamond.com for more information.
