NedFest Founder Dies

Michael “Michigan Mike” Torpie, the founder of a Nederland, Co. festival, was found dead Thanksgiving morning.

While official identification was pending an autopsy, friends of the NedFest founder confirmed to the local Daily Camera Torpie was found in a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot Nov. 24.

Torpie started NedFest after moving to Colorado in 1995.

The annual three-day event features bluegrass, jazz and jam bands at Barker Reservoir in August.
