Revealing Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker will take part in the fourth edition of Grammy Artists Revealed next month.

The event takes place Dec. 13 at the 700-capacity HighLine Ballroom in New York City. The Grammy Artists Revealed series was created by the Recording Academy in partnership with MasterCard to celebrate musical excellence and diversity while giving fans the chance to see acts perform and share stories in an intimate setting.

“I am honored The Recording Academy asked me to ‘reveal’ my musical journey through such a unique and personal performance,” Rucker said in a statement. “The prestige of winning Grammy Awards has opened many doors for me, and I look forward to sharing the experiences that have led me to where I am today, from rock band front man to country solo artist and the Grammy Awards along the way.”

Rucker earned two Grammys during his time fronting Hootie & The Blowfish. The band’s debut album, 1994’s Cracked Rear View, earned awards for best new artist and best pop performance by a duo or group with vocal.

Hootie & The Blowfish went on hiatus in 2008 so Rucker could pursue his solo career. He released his first solo studio country album, Learn to Live, in 2008, which was followed by 2010’s Charleston, SC 1966. Since breaking into the country market Rucker has earned a number of awards including the Country Music Association’s new artist of the year award in 2009.

MasterCard is giving away Grammy Artist Revealed tickets to 10 cardholders each day between Nov. 30 and Dec. 10. To enter the sweepstakes, cardholders must register for Priceless New York through MasterCard’s Facebook page. A grand prize will also be given away for two tickets to attend the 54th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles Feb. 12.
