Chairman Quincy

Producer and musician Quincy Jones has been named chairman of the Asia Academy of Music Arts and Sciences.

The academy was established in June as the first-ever “peer-driven academy to honor and award excellence in the arts and sciences of music and to foster collaboration between all sectors of the music industry across Asia and the world.”

Jones will also serve as executive producer of the inaugural AAMAS Entertainment Show, “Come Together,” at the MGM Grand Sanya in Hainan, China, March 31. Both Jones and the AAMAS are represented by management company ROAR.

Jones will work with the AAMAS board, whose members so far come from Australia, Singapore, South Korea and the U.S.

When the board is filled it will have 22 members whose role will focus on music industry issues of special interest in Asia and promoting innovation throughout the region.

The academy’s headquarters will be in Singapore, but its scope will cover music industry professionals and students in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
