Fans Torch Ticket Booth

Local soccer fans set fire to a ticket booth at the Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, in late November when they found out they wouldn’t be able to buy tickets to see the final round of a regional soccer tournament between the national teams of Indonesia and neighboring Malaysia.

Police extinguished the fire and fired warning shots in the air, dispersing the angry crowd. The stadium, which is part of a large sports complex, has a seating capacity of 88,000.

The upcoming game between the two rival countries is especially important because it’s a rematch that will determine who will go on to the finals of the Southeast Asia Games.

Police say they plan to prosecute the people who set fire to the booth, once they figure out who they are.
