Carolyn Sullivan Harrell was charged with felony theft by fraud for advertising and selling tickets to a Dec. 18 concert featuring Hank Williams Jr. and Kid Rock at the Zwolle Festival Grounds, according to the Shreveport Times.

Tickets for the show sold for $100 a pop, a police statement said, and Harrell allegedly told buyers Williams had agreed to do the concert because he’d be in the area for a hunting trip and proceeds would go to charity.

But after authorities began receiving calls regarding the concert and contacted management for the artists, the truth of the matter came out – neither Williams nor Kid Rock had plans to appear, according to the statement.

Additionally, “a notarized statement was obtained from Hank Williams Jr. declaring that he wasn’t going to appear nor did he know the people promoting the event.”

Harrell’s brother Charles Sullivan defended her to the Times, telling the paper there was no “malicious intent” and his sister had been misled by someone claiming to be Williams’ agent.

“I don’t know anything about computers and that stuff but you know you can say anything on Facebook and people will run with it,” Sullivan said. “She thought she was talking to his booking agent. We felt like it was legitimate but we’re finding out it wasn’t.”

Police seized $11,780 in cash, checks and money orders during the arrest, as well as a list of the victims. The investigation is ongoing.
