One Step Closer For Splendour Site
The Splendour In The Grass festival took one step closer to being staged at its own permanent site in Byron Bay, Australia.
The site has been battling community protests that its plans to hold cultural events on the 660-acre North Byron Parklands will have a detrimental effect on local wildlife.
As a result, Splendour has been staged for the past two years in Queensland.
But after 15-months’ of rigorous assessment, New South Wales’ Department of Planning and Infrastructure recommended approval for three major events a year.
These can add up to a total of only 10 days in the first year, with crowds capped at 30,000, 25,000 and 15,000. The approval is now before the Planning and Assessment Commission.
