‘Moonshadow’ Premieres In Melbourne

Yusuf (Cat Stevens)’s musical “Moonshadow” makes its world premiere at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre in May.

It is based on characters in Cat Stevens songs, depicting the battle of a young man and his moonshadow against impending darkness.

The A$5 million (US$5.07 million) features an all-Australian cast under Swedish director Anders Albien. “Moonshadow” cements Australia’s reputation as the new “off off off Broadway.”

“Dirty Dancing,” “Priscilla,” “Dr. Zhivago,” “Love Never Dies,” “An Officer And A Gentleman,” “King Kong” and “Strictly Ballroom” made their world debuts downunder.
