New Festival For St. Paul

A new annual, multi-day festival will make its debut on Harriet Island in Minnesota in June 2012. The event is brought to you by a five-year partnership between the city of St. Paul and Live Nation.

The as-yet-unnamed festival is scheduled for June 23-24 on Harriet Island, which is located across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Paul. A lineup has not been announced.

The festival is expected to be a “national destination” that will attract 40,000 fans.

“I’m thrilled to see Live Nation’s presence in St. Paul expand. This marquee music festival will bring millions of dollars into the city and will further establish St. Paul’s reputation as a top-tier live music community,” Mayor Chris Coleman said. “This event builds upon our successes with Concrete and Grass, Jazz Fest, and years of Live Nation events at the Xcel Energy Center, not to mention the many clubs and smaller venues around town which feature great live music. I look forward to many years of listening to top talent at the premier outdoor music venue in the upper Midwest – Harriet Island.”

Live Nation knows a thing or two about concerts. Over the past year the concert promotion company produced 51 festivals in 11 countries including Sasquatch Music Festival in Quincy, Wash.; Reading Festival in the United Kingdom; Way Out West in Sweden; Download Festival in the U.K.; and Music Midtown in Atlanta. The 2011 events had a combined lineup of over 500 bands and brought in more than 4 million fans.
