Fire At O2 Academy Brixton

A fire broke out at London’s 4,921-capacity O2 Academy Brixton Dec. 23, bringing up to 20 firefighters to the scene.

The blaze was reportedly called in at 3:53 a.m. and a representative from the Lambeth London Fire Brigade told NME the cause of the fire at the three-story venue was unknown at press time.

The “whole of the bar area, making up to 10 percent of the auditorium was damaged by fire,” the representative said.

No one was injured and the fire was extinguished in about an hour and a half. The O2 is still scheduled to hold its New Year’s Eve concert.
