The Blur guitarist is touring in support of his eighth solo studio album. A+E is due out April 2 on Parlophone as the follow-up to his 2008, acoustic-driven release, The Spinning Top. Coxon played all the instruments on A+E, which is inspired by Kratrock and the post-punk era.

He describes the album as “improvisations, experiments in beats, rhythms. A chance to uninhibitedly make some sort of perversely sad, danceable and funny and despondent songs. I didn’t want to get caught up in my usual struggle with trying to make things sound really posh. I didn’t want lovely ‘60s-sounding drums and valves.”

The U.K. tour begins April 13 at O2 Academy Oxford. Dates are booked through an April 30 gig in Falmouth at Princess Pavilion.

Stops on the routing include Gateshead (April 15), Edinburgh (April 16),  Glasgow (April 17), Manchester (April 19), Sheffield (April 20), Nottingham (April 21), Brighton (April 23), Cambridge (April 24), London (April 25), Gloucester (April 27), Bristol (April 28) and Exeter (April 29).

The English singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist will be joined by a few special guests on the road. Fans are invited to nominate local bands to open for Coxon and he’ll pick his favorite for each venue.
