Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival 2012 & 2013

Wilco is putting its Solid Sound Festival on hold this year. The alternative rock band has promised the annual event will return in 2013 – and even has dates for fans who really like to plan ahead.

The festival is headlined and curated by Wilco as a collaboration with MASS MoCA, American’s largest center for contemporary art. The festival, which is held at the museum in North Adams, Mass., launched in 2010 and was held again in 2011.

The 2011 festival featured two headline concerts from Wilco, a comedy cabaret hosted by John Hodgman, a Euclid Records pop-up store and a wide array of all ages-programming. Tickets included admission to the museum. Camping was available at a site near the museum as well as downtown merchants, bars and restaurants.

Although the festival will be on hiatus in 2012, Wilco still plans to stop by MASS MoCA this summer to play a benefit concert. That concert date will be announced soon.

The 2013 Solid Sound Festival is set for June 21-23.

Meanwhile, Wilco kicks off its 2012 tour on Thursday at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium. The U.S. leg wraps up Feb. 10 in Santa Barbara, Calif., at the Arlington Theatre, followed by a round of European shows Feb. 26 through March 11.

Wilco is touring in support of its eighth album, The Whole Love. The album was released last fall as the first album on the band’s own label dBpm.
