Police Break Up Fight Outside Knitting Factory

Police tear-gassed a “pretty defiant” crowd of between 50 and 100 people outside the Knitting Factory in Spokane, Wash., early Jan. 15 after responding to a shots-fired call at about 2 a.m.

An unruly, intoxicated crowd had gathered outside the Knitting Factory, forcing police to “utilize a small amount of pepper spray to control the situation,” according a police statement. There were no arrests, no evidence of gunfire and no injuries, according to police.

Knitting Factory security reported shots fired inside the venue, according to the Spokesman-Review, and told police they were unable to disperse the crowd that ended up blocking First Avenue.

It’s unclear what caused the fight and whether the fight started at the Knitting Factory or a nightclub next door called Mixx 916. The Knitting Factory was advertising “The Black Party Special Event” for Jan. 15.
