Hilltop Hoods With Fontana

Australia’s largest-selling hip-hop, act Hilltop Hoods, signed a U.S. deal with Universal Music Group’s independent distribution company Fontana.

The single “I Love It,” which features Sia and went platinum Jan. 16 in its home market, dropped Stateside this week.
The track is off the trio’s current album Drinking From The Sun, which has gone double platinum downunder.

Fontana president Ron Spaulding spotted the act when he attended the One Movement conference in Perth.

“I was blown away by the sheer quality of music they were producing; coupled with their success in their native country, we are excited to introduce them to the United States,” Spaulding said.

The act’s manager, Dylan Liddy, told Pollstar he’s negotiating with U.S. agents for a possible U.S. debut in March or April.

The act toured Canada four or five times, but Liddy says he waited for the right record deal before approaching the U.S. market.
