Former MSG CEO Joins Legends

The former CEO of Madison Square Garden and owner of the NHL’s St Louis Blues is taking on a new project as chairman of Legends Hospitality Management – a concessions and sports marketing joint venture from Goldman Sachs, the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys.

Dave Checketts, who founded sports consulting and investment service SCP Worldwide, told the Wall Street Journal he raised $50 million from private investors to secure a minority stake in Legends. While he will continue to chair SCP, he apparently plans to focus on Legends as his full-time job.

Checketts expects to build the company into an international entertainment and sports-marketing firm that advises on marketing, stadium projects, concessions and ticketing, the paper noted.

Legends already counts the Rose Bowl, the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and Indiana Pacers among its clients.
