A one-man performance of “Macbeth” as if all the characters hailed from Homer Simpson’s hometown of Springfield sounds like something out of the Bizarro World, but Miller is up to the task. Using video projections, puppets and his own acting skills, Miller delivers one of the more unusual interpretations of the famous play.

Sure, you get Homer as Macbeth. But Miller doesn’t stop there. He gives you Marge Simpson as Lady Macbeth, nuclear plant owner Charles Montgomery Burns as Duncan, King Of Scotland, Ned Flanders as Banquo, and Barney Gumble as MacDuff. The show also featuref Miller portraying Kwik-E-Mart operator Apu as a murderer, school principal Seymour Skinner as a witch and Sideshow Bob as “Apparition No. 4.”

How did this surreal combination of Springfield lore combined with one of the Bard of Avon’s greatest works come about? Back in 1995 when Miller had a small part in a touring production of “Macbeth,” he began creating a gag for the cast party based on what might happen if The Simpsons performed the play.

And you can see “MacHomer” as Miller takes his comic creation on the road. Stops include North Bay, Ontario, at the Capitol Centre Jan. 31; Winnipeg at the Theatre For Young People Feb. 21 and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at Persephone Theatre March 7.

Miller is bringing “MacHomer” to the states, playing La Mirada, Calif., at the La Mirada Theatre For Performing Arts Feb. 16; Brentwood, N.Y., at Van Nostrand Theatre March 24 and NYC’s New York University March 30-31 before he heads to Stratford, Ontario, where he’ll present “MacHomer” at the Festival Theatre May 1-26.
