Gibb’s Plumbing ‘In Perfect Working Order’
Robin Gibb says he’s making a “spectacular recovery’ from cancer.
While appearing on BBC Radio 2 last week, the Bee Gee said he’s feeling better than he has for the past 10 years.
“The prognosis is that it’s almost gone and I feel fantastic and really from now on it’s just what they could describe as a ‘mopping-up’ operation,” Gibb said.
Gibb talked about the nature of his cancer, saying many media reports describing his illness were based on conjecture.
“I mean the fact is, I’ve never spoken to anybody about my condition or the condition that I was in and a lot of them go over the top to the point where they’re telling me things that I didn’t even know about myself,” Gibb said.
Gibb confirmed that doctors discovered and removed a growth on his colon. As to his current health, Gibb says he feels great.
“I feel better than I did 10 years ago,” Gibb said. “I’m active, my appetite’s fantastic, the plumbing is all in perfect working order.
“If I had a choice about how I’d like to feel for the rest of my life, this would be it. If I wanted to tick all the right boxes about sense of well-being, it would be now. This is the way I’d like to feel. I don’t know how I could feel any better.”
Travis Apologizes
Randy Travis has apologized for his public intoxication arrest.
Police in Sanger, Texas, discovered Travis sitting in a vehicle in front of Baptist Church early Monday morning. According to the arresting officers, Travis smelled of alcohol and had an open bottle of wine.
Travis was taken to the Denton County jail at about 1:30 a.m. and was released hours later.
Now Travis, who lives in neighboring Tioga, is apologizing for the incident. In a statement the singer said he was sorry “for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl.”
Manilow Reschedules The Big Apple
It probably doesn’t come as surprise to East Coast fanilows that Barry Manilow has rescheduled his Radio City Music Hall gigs in New York City planned for this week.
While rehearsing for his new tour, Manilow has been undergoing physical therapy as part of his recovery from hip surgery. Last week he rescheduled his Feb. 2-4 Chicago dates for July. Now the man behind such monster hits as “Copacabana (At The Copa)” and “Can’t Smile Without You” has pushed his Radio City Music Hall shows to late April and early May.
His Feb. 10 RCMH show is now set for April 30; Feb. 11 has been rescheduled for May 1 and the Feb. 12 performance has been moved to May 2. Of course, tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored. Refunds are available at points of purchase.
“All of us are greatly disappointed and feel terrible that we are disappointing so many others,” Manilow said. “We have all worked very hard on creating the new show and at the same time spent hours with physical therapists to get back in shape.
“We are all very sorry. The pain of having to postpone our shows at Radio City is more than the pain I’ve been going through from the hip surgery.”
Chris Brown Officially On Grammy Lineup
The rumors turned out to be true as The Grammy Awards has officially placed Chris Brown on its lineup.
Earlier today the Associated Press reported Brown would be added to the awards program scheduled for Feb. 12 at Los Angeles’ Staples Center.
Brown joins a lineup that already includes ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Both were set to perform at the Grammys in 2009 but that plan changed when Brown beat Rihanna into a bloody mess the night before the awards spectacular. Brown pled guilty to a felony in June 2009 in a plea deal that included community service and five years probation.
At one time a restraining order demanded that Brown stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna. However, a judge eased the order in February 2011, reducing the stay-away provision to 10 yards if both performers were at a music event.
Brown will perform on the Grammy Awards with Deadmau5, Foo Fighters, David Guetta and Lil Wayne in a special segment honoring dance/electronica music.
Lana Postpones Tour
Singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey has postponed her U.S. tour, according to Fox News.
As you’ve probably guessed, the change of plans is being blamed on her rather lackluster appearance on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” In fact, the appearance generated such a large negative response that Kristen Wiig spoofed the performance last weekend.
Quoting those ol’ anonymous sources, Fox News said Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine and Del Rey’s agents at CAA knew she wasn’t ready to tour after she appeared on SNL. The news organization says Del Rey was originally scheduled to play approximately 30 cities beginning in March.
However, Interscope said it had nothing to do with postponing the tour and noted that Del Rey is performing at a Grammy event honoring Iovine.
