What has earned Lissie attention from the press and famous fans such as David Lynch are her live covers of tunes including Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness.”

Then again, Paradigm’s Marty Diamond told Pollstar that he doesn’t see anything she does as a cover, rather that Lissie is “interpreting and re-interpreting.”

247 Worldwide Management’s Peter Leak told Pollstar that if the covers “lead people into her own music then that’s got to be a great thing for her career. She really loves being able to take songs that would be kind of unexpected for her to cover and have fun with them.”

Lissie, (birth name: Elisabeth Maurus) who grew up in Rock Island, Ill., relocated to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue music.

Leak helped her land a record deal in 2007 with Columbia Records in the U.K. Since then, she’s released her debut studio album, 2010’s Catching A Tiger, along with a live album and a few EPs.

She joined Lenny Kravitz on the road in early 2008 after a friend of his stumbled across her MySpace page. In January 2010 she was opening for City and Colour at New York City’s Webster Hall and Los Angeles’ The Music Box. A year later Lissie was headlining those same venues.

“What really works with Lissie is the rawness of being able to hear her voice with minimal backing from a band,” Leak said. “And she’s really charismatic. People really come away feeling great after a Lissie show.”

Lissie is busy working on her next studio album. In April she’ll play Coachella. Diamond says more dates will be added later this year.

“She was living in London for about a year and her career took off there first,” Leak said. “She hasn’t had a chance to do much touring in the U.S. yet. That’s something we’re all really looking forward to.”
