Madonna Discusses M.I.A.’s Middle Finger
Regardless of your opinion of Madonna’s performance, we can all agree that Madonna minded her manners during last weekend’s Super Bowl halftime show. By leaving the mirrored cross at home and making sure her wardrobe didn’t malfunction, she was on her best behavior. The same can’t be said for M.I.A, who raised her middle finger to the crowd during a split second moment while performing with Madonna on “Get Me All Your Luvin.’”
NBC and the NFL both apologized. M.I.A.’s record label told the Associated Press Monday that it had no comment.
Madonna, who said she didn’t even know about the bird-flip until after the show, talked about the gesture with Ryan Seacrest Friday morning on his radio show “On Air With Ryan Seacrest.”
“I wasn’t happy about it, because for me – I understand it’s kind of punk rock and everything – but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity,” she said, according to Idolator.com. “It seemed negative. It’s one of those things that’s such a teenager, kind of, irrelevant thing to do in one respect. But on the other, there was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place.”

Adele Sings For Anderson
Adele warmed up for her set at this weekend’s Grammy Awards by singing her hit “Rolling In The Deep” for Anderson Cooper.
The performance is featured in a “60 Minutes” interview, which airs Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. on CBS, right before the Grammy Awards begins at 8 p.m.
Adele’s long fingernails prevented her from playing the piano and so she sang a cappella for Cooper. The tune marked the first time she’s showed off her pipes since undergoing vocal cord surgery last fall. The surgery was done to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp. Adele canceled or postponed a number of shows last year because of health issues related to her voice.
The British singer is nominated for six Grammys including album of the year, record of the year and song of the year.
