Imagination Movers 2012 Tour
The tour, which was originally scheduled to kick off in early March, now begins after the premier of the band’s new Disney episodes during “Movers Week” April 2-6. The Emmy Award-winning show, also titled “Imagination Movers,” began airing on the Disney Channel in 2008 and now airs on Disney Junior.
The blue jump-suited band, which specialize in rock tunes for the preschool crowd, features Scott “Smitty” Smith on guitar, Dave Poche on bass, Scott Durbin on mandolin and melodica, and Rich Collins on drums/guitar/bass.
The guys posted the following statement online to explain the postponed gigs:
“As some of you have already heard, our management team has decided to move several of our scheduled spring 2012 concerts to dates later in the fall. The venues and promoters asked us to do this to take advantage of additional exposure that will come when our television show begins airing at 8 a.m. every weekday on Disney Jr. This broadcast schedule is slated to begin in April.
“So, to fans who have bought tickets for shows that are being rescheduled, we want to thank you for being our most diehard supporters. And we want to sincerely apologize for making you wait longer than expected for the big event. You guys are our true blue fans and it pains us to inconvenience you in any way. We want to assure you that we will bring you the same high-energy, high-quality rock ‘n’ roll extravaganza that we’re famous for, but we’re just going to be doing it a few months later than planned.”
The first leg of the 2012 tour begins April 10 in Buffalo, N.Y., at the Center For The Arts and runs through a May 20 gig in Knoxville, Tenn., at the Tennessee Theatre.
Stops include Cincinnati (April 19); Columbus, Ohio (April 20); Pittsburgh (April 21); Boston (April 28) and New York City (May 5).
The Movers return to the road Sept. 21 with a performance in Jacksonville, Fla., at the Florida Theatre.
The band’s show in Clearwater, Fla., at the Ruth Eckerd Hall has been postponed from March 3 to Sept. 22. The Hollywood, Fla., gig is now rescheduled from March 4 to Sept. 23 at Young Circle Arts Park. Fans in Longview, Texas, will now get a chance to dance and sing along with The Movers Sept. 27 at the S.E. Belcher, Jr. Performance Center. The Houston gig has been moved to Sept. 30 at the Bayou Music Center.
