The Cranberries: ‘Roses’ & Shows
The Irish rock group is promoting the group’s sixth studio album, Roses, which is due out Feb. 27. The album is The Cranberries’ first release since the band’s 2003 hiatus and 2009 reunion. The group’s most recent album is 2001’s Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.
After taking six years apart, The Cranberries reunited for a brief acoustic performance to celebrate vocalist Dolores O’Riordan’s honoree degree at Dublin’s Trinity College in January 2009.
“The minute we started playing, it felt like we’d never stopped,” O’Riordan said. “There’s something about playing with The Cranberries. It’s like putting on a perfect pair of shoes. It just fits.”
Since then the band has played reunion shows in North and South America, Asia and Europe.
The Cranberries’ 2012 schedule begins March 15 in Auckland, New Zealand, at Trusts Stadium. Australian dates are booked March 17-28 and shows in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China and Philippines are scheduled April 2-10.
The new U.S. and Canada dates kick off May 4 at New York City’s Terminal 5. O’Riordan and the band will also play Philadelphia’s Electric Factory May 5; Boston’s House Of Blues May 11; Mashantucket, Conn., at MGM Grand At Foxwoods May 12; Washington, D.C., at the 9:30 Club May 14; and Chicago’s Riviera Theatre May 16.
A show in Minneapolis is still being confirmed. The date is May 17 but the venue hasn’t been announced yet.
The Canadian stops are May 8 in Montreal at Metropolis and May 9 at Toronto’s Sound Academy.
The North American leg is followed by a trip to Europe June 18 through July 10 which includes gigs in the United Kingdom, France, Slovakia, Germany, Poland and Spain.
Tickets for the Washington, D.C., show go on sale Feb. 16. The Canadian dates, along with New York City, Boston and Mashantucket go on sale Feb. 17. Tickets for the Philadelphia and Chicago shows go on sale Feb. 18.
Tickets are already on sale for the international dates.
