Odds & Ends: Madonna, Jeff Beck, Glen Campbell and Counting Crows

Madonna continues to sell out venues; Jeff Beck postpones March gigs; Glen Campbell announces his last Los Angeles show; and Counting Crows book a couple of hometown dates.

Selling Madonna

Über-promoter Live Nation has issued an announcement describing buyers’ frenzy when it comes to tickets for Madonna, boasting about “instant sellouts” in Amsterdam, New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, San Jose, Seattle, Washington, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver.

In other words, Madonna tickets are selling like, well, Madonna tickets.

Sell-outs often mean additional dates and Madonna’s world tour is no exception. The New York City gig at Yankee Stadium now has a companion with Maddy playing the ballpark Sept. 8 as well as Sept. 6. Other additional U.S. shows include Chicago’s United Center Sept. 20; Washington D.C. at Verizon Center Sept. 24; and Seattle at KeyArena Oct. 3. Los Angeles and San Jose are also hosting the Material Girl for two evenings.

Tickets for additional shows in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Seattle go up Feb. 21.

The Euro leg of Madonna’s world tour is also selling tickets as fast as fans can buy them with a second show for Berlin – June 30 at O2 World – going on sale Feb. 17 and night No. 2 in Amsterdam scheduled for July 8 at Ziggo Dome going up Feb. 18.

U.S. fans buying their tickets online will have their choice of receiving a digital or physical copy of Madge’s MDNA album with every ticket purchased.

Beck Postpones March Dates

Jeff Beck fans in Toronto and Huntington, N.Y., will have to find something else to do come March. In order to focus on his recording schedule, the guitar maestro has postponed shows in those markets.

Beck was scheduled to play Huntington’s Paramount Theatre March 16-17 and Toronto at the Phoenix Concert Theatre March 22. Both Live Nation and the Paramount say tickets will be honored on the yet-to-be-announced future dates. Fans can also receive refunds at points of purchase.

Campbell’s Last L.A. Gig

Currently on his “Goodbye Tour,” Glen Campbell says his June 24 Hollywood Bowl show will be his last Los Angeles performance.

Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last June, Campbell has been giving fans one more chance to hear him sing his classic hits such as “Wichita Lineman,” “Gentle On My Mind,” “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” and “Rhinestone Cowboy.”

Campbell has lined up some notable special guests for his final Los Angeles performance, tapping Jackson Browne and California roots-rockers Dawes.

Campbell’s Hollywood Bowl gig will be part of KCRW’s World Festival. While this is his last L.A. show, it’s not the last date on the routing. That is currently Bayfield, Wis., at Big Top Chautauqua June 30.
