Sacked Casino GM To Leave Australia?

Sid Vaikunta, sacked from his post as GM of Sydney’s Star Casino, may have to leave Australia by March 2.

Vaikunta was brought to Australia by Star owner Echo Entertainment Group from the United States on a 457 class visa, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. It allows temporary residence for skilled workers. Those who lose their jobs have 28 days to leave the country.

The timing of Vaikunta’s departure is being investigated by the Casino Control Authority.

Media reports said two women complained of being sexually harassed by him within days of each other in early December.

This was not known to the Authority, which was routinely reviewing the Star’s licence at the time and renewed it late December. Vaikunta was sent on leave in December but his departure not announced until Feb. 2.
