Sony Distribution Center To Close
Sony DADC Americas plans to shut down a CD distribution center in Indiana and lay off nearly 250 workers, the company recently announced.
The Fishers center handles distribution for EMI, Universal and Sony Music and a company spokeswoman told the Indianapolis Business Journal the facility will be shuttered in light of current economic challenges.
“I think everyone’s pretty well aware what’s happening with the CD business,” she said.
A Texas-based firm will take over distribution duties, the Journal said.
Digital downloads are reportedly on track to outpace CD sales for 2012.
