Blink-182 Turns 20

Blink-182’s first 20th anniversary shows will take place on the East Coast in May. New dates have been added in New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Since teaming up to play music in the summer of 1992, vocalist/bassist Mark Hoppus and vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge have released six studio albums. Travis
Barker replaced drummer Scott Raynor in 1998 after the release of Blink’s 1997 sophomore album, Dude Ranch.

The pop punk band’s most recent studio effort is Neighborhoods, which was released last September through DGC Records and Interscope Records as the follow-up to the group’s self-titled 2003 album. A lot has happened since Blink-182 put out that 2003 album – the band went on hiatus in 2005, Barker survived a serious plane crash in September 2008 and the band officially announced their reunion at the Grammy Awards in February 2009.

The new East Coast dates coincide with Blink-182’s May 19 headline appearance at The Bamboozle New Jersey in Asbury Park.

The tour begins May 15 in Rochester, N.Y., at the Blue Cross Arena. Additional U.S. shows include Manchester, N.H., at Verizon Wireless Arena May 17; Uncasville, Conn., at Mohegan Sun Arena May 18 and Bethlehem, Pa., at Sands Bethlehem Event Center May 20. The group has also added one stop in Canada – May 22 in Quebec City, Quebec, at the Quebec Colisee Pepsi.

In June the guys head to Europe to make up the tour they put on hold last year in order to finish working on Neighborhoods.

The 2012 European adventure begins June 7 in Birmingham, United Kingdom, at The NIA. A number of new European shows have recently been added to Blink-182’s schedule including gigs in Werchter, Belgium, at Rock Werchter Festival (June 28); Zurich, Switzerland (July 5); Luxembourg, Luxembourg (July 14); Nimes, France, at Festival De Nimes (July 17); Barcelona, Spain (July 19) and Madrid, Spain (July 20). The last stop on the routing is July 21 in Lisbon, Portugal, at Pavilhao Atlantico.

A pre-sale for Rochester, Manchester and Uncasville begins Feb. 21. Tickets go on sale to the general public for Uncasville and Bethlehem Feb. 24, Rochester and Manchester Feb. 25. Tickets are already on sale for Bamboozle.
