AEG Dropped From Jackson Suit
AEG has been dropped as a defendant in Joe Jackson’s lawsuit claiming the promoter was negligent in hiring his son’s doctor.
Michael Jackson’s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, and Applied Pharmacy Services remain as defendants.
“This was a major victory,” AEG Live attorney Marvin Putnam told City News Service. Joe Jackson’s attorney, however, played down Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos’ ruling, saying it was only a temporary setback.
Joe Jackson alleged AEG Live was negligent in hiring Murray and also alleges Applied Pharmacy Services sold Murray propofol the month before Michael Jackson’s death in 2009.
AEG attorneys argued Joe Jackson was not the lawful heir to his son’s fortunes, noting in interviews that Michael never supported him financially.
“At the time Michael Jackson died, [his father] was estranged from his son, who repeatedly and publicly accused him of physical and other abuse,” AEG Live said in court papers.
