Celine Dion’s Vegas Cancellations

The chanteuse follows her doctor’s orders and cancels her Las Vegas residency dates through mid-March.

Celine Dion’s vocal problems emerged just a few days ago. Blaming a virus, the singer cancelled performances scheduled for the weekend as well as Feb. 29.

But after traveling to Los Angeles where UCLA Medical Center professor Dr. Gerald Burke examined her, Dion was diagnosed with a weakness in her right vocal chord, secondary to a viral illness. The good doctor’s prescription for complete recovery is six to eight weeks of voice rest.

“I tried to sing at my sound-check, last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever,” Dion said. “We thought that after a few days rest I would improve but it wasn’t getting any better … I guess it was worse than I thought.”

Dion has canceled all of her shows at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace through March 18. Her next scheduled performance at the Coliseum is scheduled for June 9.
