Barclays Wants Local Food

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is looking for food vendors but here’s the rub: If you’re not from the borough, don’t bother.

Officials are looking for businesses from Brooklyn with an A on their health department inspection and the resources to handle orders for an 18,000-capacity arena, according to the New York Daily News.

“We are committed to bringing the best of Brooklyn to Barclays Center and to draw on the borough’s dynamic food scene,” developer Bruce Ratner said. “Our goal is to cast a wide net to make Barclays Center’s culinary experience as quintessentially Brooklyn as it gets.”

Sounds like the place will have some bangin’ pizza. In fact, Barclays is looking for “everything from pickles to pizza and from silverware to sandwich picks.” The facility opens in September.
