Happy 50th Anniversary To Marshall Amps

A group of musicians including guitarist/Chickenfoot co-founder Joe Satriani and former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist/Black Label Society founder Zakk Wylde are getting together in September to celebrate the impact Marshall Amps has had on rock music over the past 50 years.

Jimi Hendrix was so fond of the iconic British brand founded by drummer/drum shop owner Jim Marshall that he once said “nothing can beat them, nothing in the world.”

During the past half of a century Marshall amps have helped provide the sound on stage and in the studio for acts including Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Gary Moore, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Frank Zappa.

The world’s most famous amp producer will be the star of the show at “Marshall Amps – 50 Years Of Loud” Sept. 22 at London’s Wembley Arena.

Iron Maiden drummer and Marshall company/family friend Nicko McBrain will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event. The lineup for the golden anniversary party also includes Mr. Big guitarist Paul Gilbert, guitarist Doug Aldrich and drummer Brian Tichy of Whitesnake, Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen, The Cult guitarist Billy Duffy, and Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. More performers will be announced.

“This is truly a celebration of a British icon – Marshall. Beyond doubt, Jim Marshall and the team have shaped the sound of rock music for eternity!” McBrain said. “Words cannot describe how pioneering Marshall is! I feel more than priviledged to be involved in this event. We’re bringing together beyond-legendary artists for a moment in history. Expect pure rock ’n’ roll madness amplified to the max by Marshall!”
