Japan: Fest Acts, Plus Beach Boys

The first group of artists was announced for the Fuji Rock Festival, which takes place at the Naeba ski resort in Niigata, Japan, the weekend of July 27-29.

The Stone Roses, who headline Friday, and Radiohead, who do the same on Sunday, were announced several months ago. Add to them At the Drive-In, Beady Eye, Buddy Guy, Caribou, Elvis Costello, Explosions in the Sky, Galactic, Howler, Jack White, James Blake, James Iha, Justice, the Kooks, Los Lonely Boys, Ocean Colour Scene, the Shins and the Specials.

Summer Sonic, which takes place Aug. 18-19, also added to its roster with Jamiroquai, Franz Ferdinand, Pitbull, Foster the People and the Vaccines.

Creativeman, which produces Summer Sonic, also announced the Japan leg of the Beach Boys summer tour, which will start only days before Summer Sonic in the same Tokyo venue that the festival uses: Aug. 16 at the QVC Marine Field in Chiba, just outside of Tokyo.

Then on Aug. 17 they’ll be at the Osaka Municipal Gymnasium and on Aug. 19 the Japan Gaiji Hall in Nagoya.
