More Jane’s Addiction Escapists Shows

The second U.S. leg of Jane’s Addiction’s “Theatre Of The Escapists” has been announced including shows in Texas, Florida and North Carolina.

Described as “a unique blend of alternative rock, art and immersive theatre,” the tour is in support of the band’s fourth studio album, 2011’s The Great Escape Artist.

This week the band posted a “help wanted” notice on its website explaining that the group is looking for some “interesting characters” to help make the shows extra special.

“Are you an old-fashioned barber? A tattoo artist? A party photographer with ‘speak-easy’ style accessories? Or perhaps you have another outlandish activity that would enhance the evening?!

“Jane’s Addiction is on the lookout for a variety of local professionals to join our upcoming shows. In each market we would like to invite these types of professionals to set up and be part of our immersive theatre evening.

“Barbers, photographers, poets, actors, etc will be set up in the lobbies of the theatre each night. Jane’s Addiction concert-goers will be able to enjoy and immerse themselves in each activity prior to the band taking the stage.”

Whether or not you fit the “interesting character” criteria, if you’re a fan you’ll be interested to know that the new dates begin May 7 in San Antonio, Texas, at the Lila Cockrell Theatre.

Stops include Houston (May 9); Dallas (May 10); Austin, Texas (May 12); Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (May 15); Jacksonville, Fla. (May 16); Miami Beach, Fla. (May 18); Clearwater, Fla. (May 19); Raleigh, N.C. (May 22); Charlotte, N.C. (May 23); Knoxville, Tenn. (May 25) and Denver (May 29). Last show on the routing is May 30 in Albuquerque, N.M., at the Kiva Auditorium.
