Cincinnati Music Hall Sale

Cincinnati Planning Commission officials are considering the sale of the city’s 3,400-capacity Music Hall to a private investor group that is willing to raise the funds to renovate the 134-year-old building.

Under the deal, the city would sell the venue for $1 to the nonprofit Music Hall Renovation Co. Inc. The investor group would then take over fundraising for the makeover as well as future operating and maintenance costs for the venue.

The timeline to start the renovation, which was originally announced in 2006, would be pushed back a year to allow time to raise the estimated $165 million needed for the job.

The planning commission is scheduled to discuss the deal March 16.
