Lineup Announced For 2012 Roots Picnic

Kid Cudi, De La Soul and Wale will be in Philadelphia in June for The Roots’ annual hometown festival.

The 5th edition of The Roots Picnic is scheduled June 2-3 at Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing.

Rolling Stone/Volkswagen Rock and Roll Tailgate Party, Crane Bay Event Center, Indianapolis, Ind.

The lineup also includes a DJ set from LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy along with Major Lazer, Diplo, St. Vincent, Tune-Yards, Danny Brown, OCD: Moosh & Twist, Shabazz Palaces, Flosstradamus, DJ Stretch Armstrong, The Hood Internet, Star Slinger, Mr. Muthafuckin’ Exquire, Kids These Days, Chill Moody and DJ Diamond Kuts. Of course The Roots will perform, in addition to backing De La Soul.

A presale is ongoing Thursday now through 10 p.m. EDT. The password is simply “picnic.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, March 16 beginning at 10 a.m. EDT. Two-day general admission tickets are priced at $80 plus fees. Single-day tickets are available for $50 each plus fees.
