Burke Pleads Guilty

Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Kareem Burke entered a guilty plea March 15 in Manhattan federal court to charges of marijuana distribution related to his arrest two years ago.

Burke and more than 50 others were arrested in October 2010 during raids focused on a marijuana smuggling ring operating in Florida and New York. Investigators seized more than 360 pounds of pot and nearly $2 million in proceeds during the raids.

A search of Burke’s home in New Jersey revealed evidence of a marijuana growing operation and $15,000 in cash.

He faces five to six years in prison when he is sentenced May 18.

Burke, Jay-Z and Damon Dash founded the hip-hop label in the 1990s.
