Browns Stadium Repairs Stalled

A challenge by the low-bidder that was passed over for the work has stalled repairs at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

A judge ruled Thursday that Suburban Maintenance and Construction has a good chance of proving its case, so he will schedule a trial.

The city says the company failed to make a good-faith effort to include local small businesses and minority- and female-owned companies as subcontractors.

The Browns, who lease the city-owned stadium, want to refurbish seats and fix concrete before a Kenny Chesney concert July 29.

The Plain Dealer reports that team attorney Fred Nance says delays could drive up costs. The city withheld comment pending a meeting Tuesday between the judge and attorneys.
