E Street Bandstand?

There’s a petition drive to name the Seashell stage at New Hampshire’s Hampton Beach after a famous band.

Charlie Preston says he wants to name the stage “E Street Bandstand,’’ which was recently completed as part of a $14.5 million beach redevelopment project.

He tells the Portsmouth Herald he wants to recognize the band’s contributions – and give Hampton Beach back it’s missing “E’’ Street.

The online petition notes that the late Clarence Clemons, formerly a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, once played at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom across the street.

It says when the casino was built over a century ago, it consumed E Street, eliminating that street from the beach.
