The Pearl Jam camp blames the postponement of the 15-city tour on “temporary nerve damage” in Vedder’s right arm that resulted from a back injury that occurred earlier this year.

“After working aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled,” Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis said in a statement.

“There was hope up until the last minute that the treatments would be successful. Sincerest apologies go out to those who have made plans and bought tickets. Eddie is frustrated beyond measure, but remains positive that come this summer all will be back in good form.”

The tour, which included stops in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Tennessee, Louisiana and Florida, will be rescheduled for November and December. Tickets purchased for the original run will be honored on the new dates. Refunds will be available via points of purchase. Visit PearlJam.com for more information.
