Live Nation Acquires Michael Coppel Presents

Live Nation has announced it has acquired Michael Coppel Presents, one of the leading promoters in Australia and New Zealand.

Coppel promotes hundreds of shows per year, selling up to 1.7 million tickets per year to concerts like U2, Pink, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.

Live Nation began in Australia by opening its own office downunder, led by a couple of “young bucks” in Luke Hede and Roger Field. Their operations will be combined with the new business, which will be called Live Nation Australasia.  Coppel will continue as president and CEO, with Hede and Field as vice presidents, promotions.

“We have worked with Michael Coppel on a number of tours over the years and are now extremely pleased to be welcoming such a well-respected and successful promoter into our international network,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said. “Australia is the sixth largest music market in the world and an increasingly important touring market for international artists. It represents a significant part of our opportunity for international growth.”

Coppel added that he is delighted to join Live Nation and “looks forward to working with Luke, Roger and my current team, together with the touring teams in Los Angeles and London.”

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
