Ken Phebus Dies

Ken Phebus, veteran talent buyer and producer in Orange County California, died of a heart attack April 7.

Phebus, 64, was instrumental in starting up several amphitheatres, festivals, PACs, clubs and events in Southern California.

Phebus spent more than 30 years in the concert business and had a hand in venues including the Pacific Amphitheatre, The Grove of Anaheim, The Coach House, the Majestic Ventura Theatre, formerly Ventura Theatre, and The Observatory, formerly The Galaxy Theatre.

Ben Weiner of the Orange County Register once compared Phebus with Bill Graham, to which Phebus replied, “I knew Bill Graham; I’m not Bill Graham.”
