Charlie Watts NYC Residency

New York City’s Iridium Jazz Club is hosting Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts for four nights in late June and early July, following a residency with his former bandmate, guitarist Mick Taylor.

Aside from his nearly 50 years providing the heartbeat of The Rolling Stones, the drummer has toured with Ian Stewart in the boogie-woogie band Rocket 88, as well as a big band, his own jazz quintet, and most recently, the ABC&D of Boogie Woogie. His solo discography includes 1992’s  Tribute to Charlie Parker with Strings and 2010’s The Magic of Boogie Woogie.

Watts will take the stage at the Iridium Jazz Club with his own band June 29 through July 1. On July 2 he’ll play with The Les Paul Trio as part of their weekly tribute to their late bandleader, who performed at the venue weekly for more than 12 years until his death in 2009. Each of Watts’ four nights at Iridium will feature two sets at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Presale tickets are on sale now exclusively to the Iridium’s Facebook fans. A limited number of VIP seats are available. If any tickets are left over, they will be available to the general public beginning April 16.

Mick Taylor residency is set for May 9-14. The guitarist, who was part of The Rolling Stone’s lineup between 1969 and 1974, will also play two sets per night at 8 and 10 p.m.
