Bloc Party Books U.S. Dates
In late March the band announced via Twitter that the group had finished writing its new album and “from here on out, it’s straight recording.” The next day frontman/guitarist Kele Okereke updated the band’s website with the news that Bloc Party had signed to Frenchkiss Records.
The upcoming release is the first new music for the band since 2008’s third studio album, Intimacy.
The new U.S. dates begin July 30 in Honolulu at The Republik. In addition to playing Hard Summer Festival at the Los Angeles State Historic Park Aug. 3, Bloc Party will also make appearances at Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Montreal’s Osheaga Festival. Lollapalooza and Osheaga, which have not yet announced their daily lineups, are both scheduled Aug. 3-5.
The last two shows on Bloc Party’s North American itinerary are Aug. 8 at New York City’s Terminal 5 and Aug. 11 in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan.
Previously announced European festival appearances are scheduled at the Peace & Love Festival in Sweden, Borlange June 29; Super Bock Super Rock Festival in Sesimbra, Portugal July 5; and Heineken Open’er Festival in Gdynia, Poland, July 6.
A presale for the U.S. headline dates began today and runs through April 19. General admission tickets go on sale April 20 at 12 p.m. EDT.
