One Direction Announce 2013 U.S. Tour

One Direction has sold out every single show on its very first U.S. headline tour (including Madison Square Garden) and played Saturday Night Live. What’s next? To meet fans’ overwhelming demand for more gigs, the boy band has already booked U.S. dates in 2013.

The 25-city U.S. summer tour, which is scheduled after the group’s 2013 U.K. excursion, is the earliest chance One Direction will have to return to the states.

Before we skip ahead to 2013, here’s what the band’s 2012 plans look like: This month the guys have two dates in New Zealand April 21-22. Next is One Direction’s debut U.S. headline tour May 24 through July 1. The gig at New York City’s Madison Square Garden takes place Dec. 3.

One Direction kicks off 2013 with the U.K. tour Feb. 22 through April 19. The new U.S. trek begins June 13 in Sunrise, Fla., at the BankAtlantic Center.

Stops on the 2013 route include Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena June 19, Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center July 8, Minneapolis’ Target Center July 18, Denver’s Pepsi Center July 24, KeyArena at Seattle Center July 28, and Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Events Center Aug. 2. The tour wraps up Aug. 7 in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.

“Our fans are simply the best in the world,” 18-year-old Irish singer Niall Horan said. “The support they have shown us has been incredible and we’re all so grateful to each and every one of them. We can’t wait to see everyone this summer, at Madison Square Garden and of course when we play our world tour in 2013.”

In addition to Horan, the group features four British singers: 19-year-old Zayn Malik, 18-year-old Liam Payne, 18-year-old Harry Styles, and 20-year-old Louis Tomlinson.

The bandmates met while competing as solo acts on the seventh season of the U.K. “X Factor.” Simon Cowell recommended the singers team up as a group and One Direction placed third overall.

After putting out their debut studio album in Ireland and the U.K. last fall, Up All Night was released at the top of the U.S. charts in March. One Direction is the first British group to ever debut at No.1 in the U.S. with their debut album.

Presale tickets for the 2013 U.S. tour go on sale starting Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m. local time. The general onsale is April 21.
