Before he went on stage before a sold-out crowd at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., Saturday night, Jimmy Buffett received a little introduction from “Cousin Warren.”

That’s “Warren” as in Warren Buffett, also known as “The Oracle Of Omaha.” The financier/philanthropist welcomed the Parrotheads “to this 2012 annual meeting.” To which, Jimmy Buffett replied, “Cousin Warren, that’s next month.”

But Warren Buffett wasn’t just there to do an opening gag. According to the Omaha World-Herald, he took a seat on the side of the stage where “he sat for the rest of the concert, occasionally rising to cheer on his ‘cousin.’”

The paper noted that it was Jimmy Buffett’s first Omaha performance since 1985.

Zombie’s Killer Ant Ad

Rob Zombie has a new TV commercial and it’s a killer.

You might remember Zombie’s “Torturer” ad for Woolite that dominated the internets last June and depicted an unidentified soul doing laundry against a nightmarish b&w backdrop.

Zombie’s latest commercial triumph is an ad for Amdro Ant Bait called “Death Note.” Starring actor Clint Howard (Ron’s brother), the ad shows the actor hard at work in what appears to be a bloodthirsty maniac’s secret lair.

Of course, Howard, isn’t planning to destroy the world, carve up some teenagers or threaten a family that’s lost its way. He’s planning on putting some ants to sleep. Permanently.

According to Fearnet.com, the ad is one of three showing “various people driven to the edge of insanity” by ants.

Zombie takes to the road come May when he and Megadeth embark on a North American tour that includes stops in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa and Kansas.

Courtney Apologizes

Courtney Love has apologized for her tweets insinuating that Foo Fighters top man and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl got too up-close-and-personal with Frances Bean Cobain, Love’s daughter from her marriage to Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.

Now Courtney has apologized, tweeting, “Bean, sorry I believed the gossip.. Mommy loves you.”

So far Frances has not replied to her mother’s tweets, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Marilyn Manson Still Available

Marilyn Manson’s publicist wants you to know that the shock-rocker is not engaged.

Last week Life & Style magazine claimed in an exclusive that the rocker was engaged to “his 27-year-old girlfriend, actress and filmmaker Seraphim Ward.” For its scoop, Life & Style quoted a friend of Seraphim’s.  Although the mag has apparently deleted the posting, a copy has been cached for the ages.

However, Manson’s press rep says it’s not true.

“Marilyn Manson is not engaged as reported erroneously by Life & Style,” said Press Here Publicity in a brief message to the media. “Manson has never met Seraphim Ward and does not know who she is.”

Garth Still Sells Like Garth

Sure, Garth Brooks’ residency shows at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas are instant sell-outs, but what happens when the country music legend ventures outside his Sin City envelope?

The Calgary Herald reports that tickets for Brooks’ July 12 Calgary Stampede concert sold out within minutes Saturday. Of course, a lot of the tickets ended up on StubHub and were listed at prices far exceeding the original $62 cost. That upset more than a few Garth fans.  The paper later reported that the show sold out in 58 seconds.

“I’m just trying to understand how it can be legal,” D.J. McMillan told the newspaper which said the Calgary resident, along with his sister and a co-worker, tried to get tickets via phones and computers. “It just seems kind of corrupt, that there could be that many scalped tickets online at, like, 10:01 … They say it’s first-come, first-serve, but is it really?”

The same article quotes a Stampede rep as saying Brooks is “probably one of the biggest shows” the annual event has ever had, a statement the folks at StubHub would probably agree with.
