Queen Exclusive Moves To Apollo

Having lost its only show this year when the UK leg of Sonisphere Festival was canceled, Queen + Adam Lambert has quickly set up two others at London’s Hammersmith Apollo July 11-12.

The band promises to do its best to give priority booking to those who had held tickets for the traveling rock festival.

Tickets were about to go on sale at press time, first to Queen fans and Sonisphere ticket holders and then on general release.

“We had made up our minds to play in the UK this year, so play we will,” said Queen drummer Roger Taylor, adding that “we didn’t want to let down all those people expecting to see us live.”

On 1975, when the venue was still known as the Hammersmith Odeon, Queen played four sold-out shows in the autumn and another on Christmas Eve, which was Broadcast live on national radio and TV.

Lambert has kept in touch with Queen since “American Idol” season 8 in 2009, when he joined the band to perform “We Are the Champions.”

He was also with Queen when the act closed the recent MTV Europe Awards, where it collected the Global Icon award.
