Sinead O’Connor Tour Problems?

The Irish singer posted a message on her website saying she was canceling her tour. So far, promoters haven’t said a word. Is this just the latest episode in a very volatile career?

We’d tell you to check Sinead O’Connor’s website for more information but, as of Monday afternoon, it appeared to have moved offline. However, Associated Press reported that the singer posted a message earlier today saying she is “very unwell” and that she had been advised by her doctors to refrain from touring after her “very serious breakdown between December and March.”

The time period mentioned was when she married therapist Barry Herridge only to announce 16 days later that she was splitting from her bridegroom. A few days after that announcement the songstress said the marriage was back on. Then, in mid-January O’Connor announced that she would “be off the radar for a few weeks” in order to undergo treatment for depression.

So far, O’Connor’s tour does not appear to be postponed or canceled. Promoter Live Nation issued an announcement this morning saying a second date was added to the singer’s Toronto engagement. Originally scheduled to play the Danforth Music Hall May 26, the gig quickly sold out, prompting LN to add a second show for May 27 scheduled to go on sale April 27.

Update: As of Monday afternoon Ticketmaster was listing two dates – New York City’s Beacon Theatre May 22, and Boston at House Of Blues May 23 – as canceled. Stay tuned
