Ben Folds Five In The U.K.

Ben Folds Five’s reunion plans now include nine confirmed gigs in the United Kingdom and Ireland scheduled for November and December.

The new run of dates will be the first time original members Ben Folds, Darren Jessee and Robert Sledge have played the U.K. since Christmas 1999.

The tour begins Nov. 23 in Bournemouth, U.K., at O2 Academy. The rest of the U.K. shows are also booked at O2 venues, with the exception of the Nov. 24 show at
Nottingham’s Rock City Nov. 24.

The O2 performances include O2 Apollo Manchester Nov. 29; O2 Academy Glasgow Nov. 30, O2 Academy Leeds Dec. 1, O2 Academy Birmingham Dec. 3, and O2 Academy Brixton in London Dec. 4.

Ben Folds Five will stop by Dublin, Ireland, for two shows at Vicar Street Nov. 26-27.

Before heading overseas, the trio will begin its reunion tour with four major U.S. shows this summer. June 2 Ben Folds Five plays Mountain Jam Festival in Hunter, N.Y., at Hunter Mountain, followed by a June 8 gig at Atlanta’s Chastain Park Amphitheatre and June 10 at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn. The band will also play Milwaukee’s Summerfest sometime between June 27 and July 8.

A full North American tour is in the works for September and October. The band also plans to play Australia.

Ben Folds Five has a new collection of tunes coming out in August. The as yet untitled album is the first full-length release since 1999’s The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner and the band’s split in 2000.
