Boney M Protests China Policy
The demonstration was to protest China’s practice of repatriating North Korean defectors, who invariably face lifelong prison sentences and possibly even death when returned to the repressive communist country.
Boney M was in South Korea for a series of concerts during April and donated proceeds from several to help get the message out about North Korean defectors.
At the Wednesday night vigil the group performed “Let It Be” and “My Life Is In Your Hands.”
Boney M’s dance version of the Bobby Hebb hit “Sunny” is featured in the South Korean movie of the same name, about a 1980s high school girl gang that reunites 25 years after graduation. It was a huge and unexpected box office hit in 2011.
