‘The Voice’ Blitzes Ratings

The Australian version of “The Voice,” screened on live-to-air Nine Network, is one of the biggest shows of the year.

Its first three episodes drew between 2.45 million and 2.7 million, remarkable figures for Australia. Nine has signed up the four mentors – Seal, Keith Urban, Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte – for a second series.

Their exposure on the show saw their albums enter the official ARIA charts. In the week beginning April 30, the ARIA singles charts had 16 entries from judges, contestants and originals of songs performed on the show.

One contestant favourite, R&B singer Mahlia Barnes who is daughter of Cold Chisel’s Jimmy Barnes, garnered overseas label and performance interest, her publicist told Pollstar.
