Courtney Out, Frances Bean In

Frances Bean Cobain has reportedly unseated her mother, Courtney Love, over rights to Kurt Cobain’s image.

The 19-year-old Cobain now has publicity rights to the Nirvana frontman’s name, likeness and appearance. Love has agreed to step down as acting manager of End of Music LLC but remains a company member.

However, she does not have the power to make decisions on anything bearing the likeness of her deceased husband, according to The Fix, which exclusively obtained the sealed documents. The Fix is a well-recognized addiction and recovery website.

Frances Bean, who got a restraining order against her mother in 2009 by citing drug addiction and violence, recently had a spat with Love over Twitter. Love tweeted Dave Grohl had acted improperly around her daughter – something Frances Bean was quick to deny. In The Fix’s e-book “Courtney Comes Clean,” Frances Bean says her mother “has taken drugs for as long as I can remember. She basically exists now on … Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Ablify, sugar and cigarettes.”
