Gaylord Sues Feds

Gaylord Entertainment, owner of the Grand Ole Opry and Opryland Resort in Nashville, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government, accusing the National Weather Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of negligence.

Gaylord blames the national services for the massive destruction at the luxury hotel and famous country music venue during the record flood of 2010. The company says it sustained at least $250 million worth of damage.

Gaylord contends the damage from flooding from the Cumberland River could have been avoided if the Corps of Engineers opened up a spillway. As for the Weather Service, Gaylord claims it failed to warn the public about the severity of the flooding.
